Robert Paine Scripps Forum

Scripps Institution of Oceanography is one of the oldest and largest centers for ocean, earth and atmospheric research. Scientists have been studying diatoms here since its inception in 1903. 

The Seaside Forum at Scripps overlooks the La Jolla Shores Beach and Scripps Pier where oceanographic monitoring and diatom samples have been collected since 1919.

Getting Here

Car

Parking at Scripps is not available. Free but limited street parking can be found in the neighborhood south of the campus.  Consider using rideshare options like Lyft and Uber.

Public Transit

Mass transit is served by the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) The closest bus stop to the forum is on Bus Route 30 at La Jolla Shores Dr and Naga Way.

UC San Diego also operates a free shuttle from Scripps to the main campus where there are connections to other bus routes and the MTS Blue Line Trolley.
